Emergency Storm Tips

10/21/2020 (Permalink)

It seems as if storm season never quite leaves Pennsylvania. As the thunderstorms roll away with the heat, winter’s ice and snow fall quicker than the leaves of autumn.

And with winter storms, come the hassle of house and business damage. From frozen pipes and water damage to ice dams and roof damage, tis the season to make sure you and your property are the most prepared to handle any possible emergency situation.

But no matter the season, it’s always best to be prepared, and just remember SERVPRO of Wyomissing has your back with some emergency storm tips:

  1. Contact your insurance company immediately, and a local restoration company soon after. Because if you’re house is damaged by a storm, it is more than likely that your neighbors maybe experiencing the same problems.
  1. Survey your house for other affected areas. You may be distracted by a bigger issue that needs immediate attention, but if you fail to find other damage, like leaks, cracks, mold, etc. then you’ll be plagued with reoccurring issues during every freak storm of the season.
  1. Before help arrives, mitigate as much as possible, while staying SAFE! Board areas of your house up, and move items to a dry place if possible. But always, always remember, if you have any doubt leave it to the professionals.

No matter the situation, the best way to handle a storm damage situation is to remain calm and keep safe.

Call SERVPRO of Wyomissing at (610) 208-0300 for your storm damage needs and questions!
